Morton Show ambition

-

Prior to Saturday’s encounter, I spent some time reviewing the first half of the campaign. Morton were sitting in fifth spot just shy of the play-off spots which, for an onlooker, would look like a reasonable, yet unspectacular, opening half.

With St Mirren and Dundee United drifting away from the rest of the pack, it will certainly be a play-off push at best for Jim Duffy’s men this season. In order to secure our second consecutive play-off finish, we will have to battle against teams like Dunfermline, Queen of the South, Livingston and Inverness – all very strong teams in their own right. But do the board have the ambition? Are they willing to offer Duffy the funds in January to strengthen to be the “best of the rest” this season? Let’s hope so.
