Fish measured in annual inventory at German aquarium

-

A freshwater stingray (Potamotrygonidae) is measured during the annual inventory at the Sea Life aquarium at Hanover in northern Germany. The fish are almost circular in shape, can grow to nearly 7ft and have venomous tail stingers. They are found in rivers in South America and can weigh up to 220kg.

They cause thousands of injuries a year to people stepping on them and fishermen handling them.
