Addict who preyed on elderly is jailed

A drug addict who preyed on vulnerable old women has been jailed for seven years.

Alan Lynn, 33, attacked two elderly pensioners in broad daylight and robbed them of their handbags, the High Court in Livingston heard.

Lynn pushed 67-year-old Helen Mathie to the ground in Motherwell in June 2016 and stole her bag containing £120 in full view of CCTV cameras.

He also robbed 79-year-old Rosina Mcmullen in the North Lanarkshire town in May last year after running into her on his bike.
