Armed man robs newsagent as elderly man dies

A man has robbed a newsagent in Saltcoats at knifepoint.

A 63-year-old woman was working in Wylie’s Newsagents on Springvale Streetabout3:40pmonfriday when a man allegedly entered the shop, threatened her with a knife and demanded money.

He then made off with a small amount of money.

A 71-year-old man then went into the shop having heard of the robbery. He collapsed and later died. A Scottish father who brought his wedding forward by a year after he was diagnosed with a rare cancer is backing a new fundraising campaign.
