Girl arrested after footage of assault found online

A teenager has been charged in connection with an assault on a 12-year-old girl after footage was posted online.

Police said the incident took place about 8pm on Saturday in the Ladywell area of Livingston in West Lothian. The 12-year-old suffered minor injuries.

Video footage taken of the incident was posted on social media.

A 13-year-old girl has been charged in connection with an alleged assault.

Officers are following positive lines of inquiry in an effort to trace others believed to have been involved.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers are aware of video footage and communication posted to social media and would ask the public [to] conduct themselves appropriately online.”
