More than 50 jobs have been saved after a Chinese firm acquired an Aberdeenshire-based manufacturing business which fell into administration.

Pelikan Hardcopy Scotland of Turriff has been acquired by a subsidiary of Zhuoli Imaging Technology, based in Jiaozuo City, immediately after Deloitte was appointed administrator.

All 52 employees at Pelikan, which manufactures and distributes printing products and office consumables such as ink cartridges, have transferred to the new owner.

Michael Magnay, joint administrator and head of restructuring for Deloitte in Scotland, said: “It’s fantastic to secure the existing 52 manufacturing jobs in Scotland, and we’re thankful to the staff for their ongoing support during what has been a challenging time for the company.

“It’s also encouraging to see Chinese investment in Scottish manufacturing, which is an endorsement of the innovative products produced and the quality and dedication of the workforce.”
