Man with facial wounds was murder target

An attack that left a man with serious facial injuries in Renfrew is being treated as an attempted murder.

The 37-year-old was found seriously injured in Wilson Street about 1:10am on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police said they believed he was attacked by one man and appealed for informatio­n.

Detective Inspector Nathan Calderwood at Paisley CID said: “It is vital that we trace the person responsibl­e.”
