Soldier sped at 129mph past police vehicle
A Port Glasgow soldier who was caught speeding through Renfrewshire at 129mph as an unmarked police car gave chase has been spared jail.
George Gray raced along at nearly double the speed limit in his Toyota Avensis at about 9pm on 4 September last year after receiving a call from his wife to say their daughter was acting erratically.
Gray, who previously appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court to plead guilty to a charge of dangerous driving, was yesterday fined £1,000 at the same court, and banned from driving for a year.
