Celebrating support: Edinburgh Women’s Aid hails 45th anniversary

Edinburgh Women’s Aid is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, and has grown its members of staff to 40 from ten over the last 20 years, who respond to more than 2,000 enquiries a year. The charity, which helps women and children affected by domestic abuse by giving practical and emotional support, has also seen the number of women accessing its services double in the last four years. Its yearlong programme of events to celebrate its anniversary starts with a fundraiser at The Stand in Edinburgh on 20 February.
