Unpleasant spell

-

Whilst not always agreeing with John Cameron I have, over the years, admired the erudition and breadth of knowledge shown in his many letters to the editor. Sadly, in his letter “Sex ‘witch hunt” (15 January), he betrays a more unpleasant side.

To condemn all those who have accused well-known men of historic sex crimes as a “motley crew of ‘victims’– some in it for the money whilst others are little more than publicity-seeking fantasists” is hugely insulting. His description of the #Metoo movement, not only as an unpleasant cult comparable to Mccarthyism but as a detestable form of feminism, overlooks the fact that many of those speaking out have been men.

Any valid points Dr Cameron may have raised have been lost in what must be one of the most intemperate, unpleasant letters I have ever read.
