Cyclist hurt in race crash wins £55,000 in court
A cyclist has been awarded £55,000 compensation over a crash with a 4x4 – even though a sheriff ruled he was just as much to blame as the driver.
Graeme Daly was competing in a ten-mile time trial race near Mawhill in rural Kinross-shire in August 2015 when he collided with a boat trailer being hauled by a Ford Explorer driven by David Heeps.
Sheriff Peter Braid ruled Mr Daly was 50 per cent to blame for the crash, but arrived at the compensation because Mr Heeps had been driving at “excessive speed” for the conditions.
