Tartan trio reach semis
It was a winning debut for Blantyre’s Stewart Anderson and Commonwealth Games-bound Lesley Doig as they both booked their berths in tomorrow’s Just World Mixed Pairs semifinals at Potters Resort,

Anderson and Guernsey’s Alison Merrien claimed a 6-6, 6-4 win over Rob Paxton and Aussie Ellen Ryan. Strathmiglo’s Doig, who is part of Scotland’s women’s team heading to Australia in April, won 11-3, 5-5 with Jamie Chestney against fellow Scot David Gourlay and Janice Gower.
Arbroath’s Darren Burnett and English partner Rebecca Field beat defending champions Claire Johnston from Auchinleck and England’s Nicky Brett 2-9, 7-3, 2-1 and face Anderson and Merrien in the semis. But Scottish pairing Julie Forrest and Alex Marshall lost 7-5, 5-3 to Katherine Rednall and Greg Harlow.
