Knife-wielding robber targets petrol station

A knife-wielding robber stole cigarettes and money from a petrol station before dumping his loot.

The incident happened in Rutherglen in the early hours of yesterday. Officers said that at around 4:55am a man entered the Esso petrol station on Stonelaw Road and threatened the male member of staff with a knife, demanding cigarettes and cash. The suspect then made off.

He is described as white, in his 40s, 5ft 10in tall and was carrying a black backpack. The backpack containing the stolen cigarettes and cash was recovered in Stoneylaw Wood.
