Scots jobs market in good health in late 2017
Scotland’s job market is “flourishing”, although candidates are still cautious, according to new data from independent job site Cv-library.
In a study of the last three months of 2017, it found an “impressive” 9.4 per cent year-on-year increase in advertised job vacancies across Scotland, while salaries in Edinburgh and Glasgow experienced a strong quarter-on-quarter increase, up by 4.7 per cent and 1.8 per cent respectively.
Furthermore, Aberdeen saw a year-on-year hike in salaries of 8.5 per cent.
Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of Cvlibrary, said: “It’s great to see that the job market in Scotland is flourishing, particularly when compared with data from the same period last year.”
He noted the uncertain backdrop, and there was a 5.5 per cent quarter-onquarter drop in job applications, but this showed the usual seasonal slowdown. Biggins added: “We hope that as we move ever-closer to Brexit, both business and candidate confidence will continue to improve.”
