Ferry firm urged to join new straw ban

-

Calmac has been urged to follow the lead of Northlink Ferries by pledging to ban plastic straws on all of its vessels.

Northlink Ferries have announced a series of ecofriendly solutions.

These include stopping the supply of plastic straws along with the sale of plastic-stemmed cotton buds.

MSP Kate Forbes, who is leading the Final Straw initiative, said it was time for Calmac to take action against the scourge of plastic pollution.

“I hope Calmac will follow suit imminently,” she said.
