Man assaults his girlfriend while on prison leave

-

A man who used his home leave from prison to viciously attack his girlfriend has been re-imprisoned.

Gary Ironside, from Dundee, was serving a fourand-a-half year jail term for a brutal attack on a 74-year-old man.

He was moved to Castle Huntly open prison in Perthshire just over 18 months into that sentence and allowed home leave to stay with his girlfriend and their child in Dundee. But during a seven-day visit in January last year, Ironside attacked Georgie Cussick after she compared him to a movie character.
