Bottling it
I was flabbergasted to note in Tuesday’s Scotsman that environmental secretary Rosanne Cunningham was “demanding” at a meeting in London, with apparent impunity, that the UK Government follow Scotland’s lead on the deposit scheme for plastic bottles.
Should any UK minister have the audacity to preach similarly to the Scottish Government the political fallout would be well nigh cataclysmic. A second referendum would certainly be rescheduled for next week, and Edinburgh Castle Rock might well, in the words of the Bard, “melt wi the sun”.
What long-suffering, tolerant neighbours we do have!
