#OSCARNOMS

The nominations for the 90th Academy Awards have been announced as the best films of 2017 are honoured. @Awards_watch tweeted: “Octavia Spencer ties Viola Davis as the mostnominated black actress in Oscars history.” @The_jose8a noted: “Whoa! This year’s Leading Actor nominees are so good! It’s going to be tough to pick a winner!” @Drrjkavanaghesq added: “Get Out nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Screenplay! Clean sweep please.” @Lisamarie_crew complained: “The Greatest Showman only got nominated for one Oscar, for best song? Snubbed. It deserves better.”

#BRITNEYSPEARS

Fresh off a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas, popstar Britney Spears is bringing her Piece of Me tour to Glasgow, as part of a European series of shows. The show at the SSE Hydro will mark her first touring visit to Scotland since she played the SECC in 2004. @Bbcjohnbeattie said: “Good that @britneyspears is playing Glasgow. Britney, try the Doublet on Park Road, or go for a curry at one of our great institutions, and you must see @Kelvingroveart” @14Michael15 tweeted: “I can’t believe @britneyspears is coming to Glasgow in August, I’m actually excited!” @Djhireglasgow predicted: “Britney Spears coming to Glasgow. You probably have as good a chance of winning £10 on the lottery as you do getting a ticket before the bots!”

#BORISJOHNSON

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson made another less-than-subtle attempt to grab headlines by making it known he was unhappy with the level of NHS funding. Prime Minister Theresa May rebuked the former Mayor of London for his intervention, saying Cabinet discussions should remain private. @Anna_soubry tweeted: “PM should have sacked #Borisjohnson for longstanding incompetence & disloyalty. Unless TM acts now Boris will bring her down.” @Otto_english added: “The Channel Bridge was a dead cat thrown on a table to distract attention from the reality check Macron delivered about post Brexit trade. A typical #Borisjohnson trick. It worked. He thinks you’re all stupid, Britain.”
