The world as we know it must have been given some particularly potent type of drug or, at least, perhaps it has been administered to members of what was formerly called the “gentler sex”, judging by their comments these days.

All I seem to see in the press (your own pages included) and on radio and television is articles about how awful men are. Some women criticise the men in the UK as being too white. Well, writing as one who is guilty as charged, I would point out that that comes with the territory. Try accusing the Chinese when you are in China of being “too yellow” and you would, quite rightly, be charged with racism. It’s OK here though.

In the same way, poor old Robert Burns is, apparently, guilty of being a “sex pest”, according to Liz Lochhead (your article, 23 January), as she compares him to Harvey Weinstein. Forgive my asking, but I was unaware that Mr Weinstein has actually been found guilty of anything in any court of law and, as far as I am aware, we are innocent until proven guilty, or has that changed?

One American feminist describes all heterosexual acts as rape and that says it all in my book. We men are guilty of all the cardinal sins. Women are always, without exception, the victims.

One wonders why it is not just made illegal to be a man?
