Man jailed for taking airport bags home in van
A cleaner stole a Glasgow Airport van filled with airport luggage trollies worth £2,000 and drove it 15 miles back to his home, a court heard yesterday.
Christopher Barrie raced back to his home in the East End of Glasgow in the vehicle – which had “Glasgow Airport” emblazoned on the side – after being told that his grandfather had passed away.
He was banned from driving when he decided to take the vehicle from the airport and head home.
The vehicle was later found by officers called to investigate a disturbance Barrie was involved in – but the trollies had gone. Yesterday he was jailed for 11 months and banned from driving for 20 years.
The details emerged when Barrie appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court to plead guilty to the offences.
