Paris in the springtime: Fashion mavens get a taste of what’s to come

Models take to the catwalk to showcase the spring/summer 2018 haute couture collection for Belgian design house AF Vandevorst in Paris France. The new creations celebrate 20 years in business for husband and wife design team An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx, both graduates of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. The pair met on their first day at the institution.

Armour-like pieces and military-inspired designs have appeared throughout the couple’s collections, alongside soft drapes, furs, and knits. Their latest creations reference their vast archive. One fashion commentator said: “The sacred meets the profane in their work, and an almost clerical asceticism coexists with an element of kink.”
