Primary pupil dies from flu virus

A primary school pupil aged either nine or ten is believed to have become the youngster in the UK to die in the latest flu outbreak.

Public Health England has confirmed a Year 5 pupil at a school in the Exeter area of Devon has passed away after he tested positive for the virus.

Devon has been recognised by official data as the worst area for “Aussie flu” in the UK in recent weeks.

The latest victim is also believed to be the youngest victim of the current outbreak of the disease.
