M&S in Scotch Egg recall over gluten

- By CHRIS DYER

Marks & Spencer is recalling its gluten-free scotch eggs – because they contain gluten.

The firm has had to recall their packets of two glutenfree scotch eggs because they contain gluten which is not mentioned on the label.

The effected scotch eggs include all sell by dates up to and including Monday, 29 January. The supermarket giant has put up notices around stores so customers know to return the product.

A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency said: “This product contains gluten making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to gluten. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to gluten do not eat it. Instead return it to the store for a full refund.”
