TRUMPATDAVOS

Donald Trump was at home among the rich and powerful at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The controversial President surprised some by giving a version of his classic stump speech, railing against the Press in between offering a qualified apology for retweeting Britain First.

@Martinbelam tweeted: “Donald Trump just said with a straight face that the US had never previously elected a businessman to be president.”

@Sbg1 added: “Whatever he says on stage there is nothing Donald Trump will like more than having the globalists bow and applaud the kid from Queens he never got over being.”

@Markdistef reported: “The BBC’S Kamal Ahmed describes Donald Trump at Davos as ‘a mixture of Beyonce and Hulk Hogan’ ”

#GREGDOCHERTY

Rangers continued their January rebuilding as they secured Hamilton’s Greg Docherty. The midfielder described his move as a boyhood dream come true.

@Andycameron1940

posted: “Can’t wait to see Greg Docherty in a Rangers jersey. Good luck!”

@Dougiek85 wrote: “So in this window Rangers have signed 2 young players likened to a young Naismith and Mcarthur, as well as the experience of Martin and Murphy and the potential gem of Goss. I think it’s fair to say the board and Allen have stepped up, I’m buzzing for the 2nd half of the season!”

#BBCPAY

Amidst the ongoing row over salaries at the BBC, it was reported that some of the corporation’s most high-profile male presenters would take a pay cut. Some praised the move, but others thought it sent the wrong message by lowering men’s pay as opposed to raising the salaries of women.

@Celeancamp wrote: “Well done guys. It’s a start!”

@Dawnbutlerbrent said: “Dear @Bbcbreaking we don’t want the men to get a pay cut we want you to take action on #equalpay! If The men were worth it so are the women. Pay women more. Reminds me of the minimum wage argument.”

@Burmana2002 agreed: “What a joke that some #BBC men have taken a pay cut! It isn’t their fault what they were paid. Maybe the BBC can just pay everyone equally in the first place.”
