Bothy Culture and Beyond

There are many treats still to come as Celtic Connections reaches the halfway point, not least Dale Watson & His Lone Stars’ celebration of 50 Years of Folsom Prison Blues at the Royal Concert Hall and Arrest This Moment, a tribute to the late Michael Marra at the Pavilion. But the mustsee event of the entire festival is the return of the phenomenal Grit Orchestra, above, bringing together players from across the folk, jazz and classical spectrums. Once more, Bothy Culture and Beyond celebrates the music of piper Martyn Bennett in punchy orchestral form, but this time with additional thrills and spills from stunt cyclist Danny Macaskill. n
