AJ Leitch-smith proved to be Dundee’s last-action hero in a 2-1 win at tenman Hamilton Accies but he hailed Scott Allan for being the man who made it all possible.

The Dens outfit looked in trouble against Accies at the Superseal Stadium when Mark O’hara netted an own goal 90 seconds in.

But the introduction of Allan midway through the second period swung the game back in the Dark Blues’ favour.

First he lured Hamilton’s David Templeton into a foul which earned him a second yellow card. Then he played a crucial role as Matthew Henvey scored his first senior goal to put Dundee level.

Allan was also involved in Dundee’s stoppage-time winner as he fooled Hamilton’s Marios Ogkmpoe into a foul, with Leitch-smith scoring from the free-kick.

“If you make a run, you know Scott is going to find you,” said Leitch-smith. “He encourages movement and he has all the ability in the world.”

The winner came as Hamilton found themselves down to nine men after Darian Mackinnon had to go off injured.

Now Accies boss Martin Canning admits he fears the knock could rule his battler out for the longterm. “It looks a bad one so we will just have to wait and see,” he said.
