- By WILL JACKSON

0 Massimo Donati: Coaching. Hamilton midfielder Massimo Donati is to leave the club after his contract was cancelled.

The former Celtic midfielder started during last week’s loss to Motherwell, but has agreed to an early exit from Accies in order to begin his coaching career.

Donati, 36, has been

at Hamilton since 2016 and had started coaching in the club’s academy prior to leaving.

In a statement to the club website, chairman Ronnie Macdonald said: “He has been an outstanding player at the highest level and we have benefitted from all his experience and the standards he set.

“Massimo now enters the next phase of his career, which I am sure will see him becoming very successful in management. We wish him every success and look forward to him returning to Hamilton at the head of his own team in the future.”

The exit door at the Superseal stadium has seen a lot of movement in recent days, with centre-half Mikey Devlin having completed a move to Premiership rivals Aberdeen and midfielder Greg Docherty signing for Rangers. Club stalwart Grant Gillespie has also left as manager Martin Canning looks to reshape his squadforthesecondhalfofthe season.

Yesterday also saw an arrival, though, as Accies announced a deal to bring in striker Mickel Miller from Carshalton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old striker joins on an 18-month deal having scored 25 goals in non-league football in England this season, and also enjoyed a spell at the Jamie Vardy Academy in the summer.

Carshalton chairman Paul Dipre told his club’s official website: “I would like to thank Ronnie Macdonald [the Hamilton chairman] for the way the transaction has been conducted.

“On behalf of everyone at Colston Avenue I wish both Mickel and the Accies the best of luck in the seasons ahead.”

Hamilton are currently tenth in the Premiership, six points clear of bottom club Ross County, and next face Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday.
