There was a full house at a screening of the new star Wars film in the western Isle son sunday as locals were offered sabbath cinema for the first time. the move is part of a three-month trial of sunday opening satan L ann ta ira rt scent re and gallery in stornoway, on the Isle of lewis. but some local church men claim the move is‘ eroding the christian way of life’ in the area.

Enjoy! it will make a huge

difference to all the community, leisure, recreation, and relaxation for all. hope you get the swimming pool, restaurants, cafe se tc opening too. have ag’ day and weekend.

Why are religious people always telling other people what to do? why are religious people always obsessed with other people’ s sex lives?

Old Leithe

As others indicated, yesterday was Father Ted Day in Stornoway. Good to see Lewis enter the 20th century.

The Diplomat The problem with religious people is they lay claim to

Sunday as the “lord’s day ”, for getting it’ s only a lord’ s day to them, not others. and the fact they’ re upset that other people wish to attend a mo vie on a Sunday is again proof of the sort of in tolerance religion forces on others. i have never understood it, it makes no sense.

Why not let the residents decide ... if nobody turns up then close the centre on a sunday–but if it proves popular–keep-it-open... it is only once a month, after all. is it really true that, until recently, washing couldn’t be hung out on a sunday?

Inchgower

I can’ t speak for the whole of Lewis but certainly in the 1980s w he ni worked there that was certainly true in parts of the island. ins torn away i saw people washing their cars and doing some gardening but up towards the butt of lewis people were more likely to be in the Kirk.

I’ m totally non religious bu ti think that society should have one day set aside for family, friends and socialising.

Hcs Gillan Who the hell is drinking whisky through a straw?!

Kayleigh Milburn Knox

Once again, too little, too late. This will do next to nothing. Plastic straws are just another example of the wasteful society. Easy solution, the government should just ban all plastic straws. who needs them anyway? for a few disabled people who may have a genuine medical need for them to drink, biodegradable alternatives can be used.
