Woman killed as car collides with tree is named

A woman who died after her car left the road and hit a tree has been named by police.

Annette Glover, 73, was driving on the A714 north of Penningham­e in Newton Stewart when the single-vehicle crash happened about 11:25am Monday.

She was from Glentrool Village in Dumfries and Galloway and was driving a blue-coloured Mazda.

Officers said investigat­ions into the cause of the crash were continuing.

The road was closed to allow a full crash scene investigat­ion to take place following the crash.
