Boroughmuir need win to grab relegation lifeline

- By GARY HEATLY

Only a win for Boroughmuir in today’s rearranged home match with Stirling County would give them hope of avoiding the BT Premiership relegation play-off.

The recent good form of Hawick, coupled with their own troubles has left the Edinburgh outfit in ninth place on 22 points with four regular season fixtures left.

They are playing today’s game at Lasswade’s Hawthornden ground as Meggetland is out of action due to an American football fixture.

For Muir, Grant Mcconnell replaces Ciaran Whyte – who is best man at his brother’s wedding – at full-back and Rob Ure starts his first game in the back row having done well off the bench in the defeat at Hawick seven days ago.

County are in sixth spot and have Andrew Mclean and Harry Henderson coming into the starting XV. Joe Beech and Gary Holburn return, while Blair Gilchrist is promoted from the replacements to play at hooker.

Marr are bottom and welcome leaders Melrose to Fullarton Park. Greg Jackson moves to prop with Mackenzie Pearce in the back-row for the men from Troon.

Melrose name the same starting XV that was due to travel for the match when it was postponed last week.

Watsonians and Hawick are the two in-form clubs in the division and they meet at Myreside. Back-row Rory Drummond is now fully fit and returns to the home side’s starting XV, while Hawick have a few players unavailable, meaning the likes of Chris Ritson get a topteam outing.

Second-placed Currie travel west to take on Glasgow Hawks. In a re-jigged backline, David Hall is at centre for Currie with James Couper moving to scrumhalf for Hawks.
