Man, 48, seriously hurt in car collision

A man has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Edinburgh.

The serious collision happened in Queensferr­y Road, near Parkgrove Street, Clermiston, at 7:20pm on Saturday.

A 48-year-old pedestrian was struck by a red Mazda 2, which police say had been travelling westbound.

He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The road was closed westbound until around 10pm while investigat­ions took place.
