Peer recognitio­n: Christophe­r Nolan gets Directors Guild nomination for Dunkirk

Christophe­r Nolan, with wife Emma Thomas, a film producer, shows off a medallion honouring his nomination for outstandin­g directoria­l achievemen­t at the 70th annual Directors Guild of America Awards in California. Nolan was nominated for Dunkirk, which depicts the Allied evacuation during the Second World War.

The film, which stars Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh, is the highest-grossing Second World War film of all time, taking £372 million worldwide. It has already won several awards worldwide, and is also nominated for eight Oscars.
