Keillor-dunn nose for goal impresses Coyle

-

Owen Coyle revealed Davis Keillor-dunn played with a suspected broken nose to dictate Ross County’s 4-1 win over Dundee.

The winger scored one goal and set up two as the Staggies ended their long wait for a win – stretching back to the beginning of November – with a dominant performance.

Alex Schalk was on target twice and Tim Chow added a fourth late on, but it was the performance of Keillordunn with a broken nose that caught the eye.

“I was told at half-time he had a suspected broken nose, which I told the physio and doctor not to tell him in case it put him off his game,” said Coyle. “He’s a great kid and I think he should be in the next Scotland Under-21s squad.”

It was an important win for County to close the gap at the bottom of the table. They’re now just three points behind 11th-placed Hamilton.

“When you have been detached and down at the bottom it’s easy to go routeone, but the way we played today I thought was excellent,” added Coyle.

“Hopefully we can kick on because we certainly believe there’s a run of games coming up that we can win and we have to be ready for them.

“If we can get to that split and still be in it, we believe we are good enough to keep the club in the league. That’s the priority.”

The result came as a blow for Dundee who had been starting to look up the table after two wins in their last three league games, and Neil Mccann, after shouldering responsibility for the defeat, was at a loss to explain the performance.

“I didn’t see it coming, because we prepared really well and had a game plan,” said the Dundee manager. “There was a lack of spark in our play.”
