The clock on the worldfamous Elizabeth Tower in London is usually renowned for its accuracy. While it’s undergoing maintenance and the chimes have been switched off, it’s still kept good time – until now, with BBC news viewers yesterday noting that the programme’s live background image of the clock was running around 25 minutes late. @Bluelass said: “Before we all go into a blind panic, has anyone checked the ravens are still there at the Tower of London?” @Observatrace added: “Perhaps it will feature in a Doctor Who episode.” @Parrferris posted: “As far as I’m concerned, if that’s what Big Ben says, that is the time.”

Moley Robotics has created a fully automated kitchen that can cook meals and clean up after itself – but people have mixed feelings about it. @Vukaninxumalo said: “All my favourite things are being replaced by some robot... But I’m open to new ideas.” @Amandarudkin1 added: “Very scary... in many ways.” @Pho2oart said: “There was a sci fi book with this concept in it. I read it last year. Pretty cool, but the book went a lot farther with the concept. Unbelievable someone could do this, programming it had to have been crazy.” @tabitha_martel posted: “There is a big difference between someone who cooks and a chef. A chef uses taste, touch, sight and flavours to create a masterpiece to enjoy. Don’t know if a robot can give us that experience.”

A Downing Street source has insisted that Britain will “categorically” leave the EU customs union after Brexit. The claim comes ahead of Theresa May’s crucial negotiation talks with EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier. @PAULPJB was not happy and tweeted: “But will we be negotiating for a trade deal with the Customs Union. Probably looking for the same deal and rules as we have now. Do they really think they are going to get it? All to keep Mrs May in her job. All to satisfy about 50 ambitious and avaricious Tory MPS.”
