Pensioner who caught on fire dies from burns
A 92 year-old man has died after being engulfed in flames in his own home in Renfrewshire.
The pensioner was discovered alight in his garden in Russell Place, Linwood, about 5pm Sunday.
The victim sustained extensive burns despite a neighbour helping put out the flames with water and damp towels.
He later died from his injuries at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. An investigation to establish the cause of the fire is ongoing. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s Graeme Binning said the blaze had taken place at a two-storey property.
