Hunt for attacker after teenager raped

Police officers are investigating after an 18-year-old girl was raped in Stevenston.

Officers were called to the scene in the Ardeer area of the north Ayrshire town yesterday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “An investigation is under way following a report of a serious sexual assault on an 18-year-old woman.

“Officers are in attendance and inquiries are ongoing.”
