Race case verdict delay

- By CRAIG P STEWART

A disciplinary panel called to discuss the case against Clyde midfielder Ally Love for alleged racist comments made to Annan’s Rabin Omar met for several hours yesterday but no decision is expected until today.

Love’s case was due to be heard last week but was postponed for a week to allow the Scottish FA to investigate claims of a bust-up between Love and Omar – who was born in Holland and is of Kurdish origin – in the car park after the League 2 game at Broadwood on 2 January.

Former Brechin City player Love could be banned for 16 games if he is found guilty but the outcome of the case called by SFA compliance officer Tony Mcglennan was not known to either club late last night.

Annan manager Peter Murphy said: “We had representatives of the club giving evidence at Hampden however we are not aware of the outcome.”

A Clyde representative said: “We were told that summation of the case was due to start at 9pm but a verdict was unlikely to be reached until Friday.”
