A selection of classic cars were rolled out this week for the launch of the 2018 Perthshire Classic Car Festival.

Details of the annual event, organised by the Rotary Club of Blairgowrie in partnership with Scone Palace and Perth & Kinross Council, were revealed at the host venue –Scone Palace, where organisers and sponsors gathered with some of the stars of the show.

Among the cars on display were the Ecurie Ecosse Rover C286 known as Reggie and a 1953 Jaguar XK120 first owned by John Lyons, son of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons.

This year’s event – on April 21-22 – will see three distinct elements over the two days.

The festival will kick off on Saturday morning with a parade of 150 cars leaving Scone Palace and proceeding into Perth city centre.

After driving into the city, the cars will be on public display in Tay Street until 1pm when they will head back to the palace to join around 300 other cars at the main festival.

At the palace there will be a number of oneoff special cars, along with displays from Ecurie Ecosse and Knockhill Racing Circuit, Milford Vintage Engineering, Classic Restorations (Scotland) and a host of Scottish car clubs.

There will also be family entertainment, brass bands and an air display.

On Sunday 80 classic cars will gather in Blairgowrie for the second running of the Blairgowrie Drive It Day. The cars will head through Blairgowrie, along the new Snow Road into Aberdeenshire before returning via the Cairn O’ Mount road into Perthshire, visiting Blairgowrie before heading to the finish line at Scone Palace.

Last year’s event raised £17,500 for charity and this year it will be fundraising for Cancer Research UK, Alhzeimer Scotland and the Rotary Foundation.
