Bridge of highs
Very few in Scotland will have seen the obituary of Flight Lieutenant Ted Stocker, a wartime Pathfinder pilot who flew some 109 missions and whose bravery was recognised with a DSO in addition to his DFC. But he had another unique achievement, requiring the same bravery and skill where no medal was awarded. He flew a Lancaster bomber under the Forth Bridge.
All aviators recognise this as a remarkable effort. I feel this should be more widely known and perhaps added as a footnote in the history of the Bridge.
