Collateral
This BBC and Netflix co-production written by David Hare and starring Carey Mulligan, John Simm and Billie Piper is set over four days following the murder of a pizza delivery driver in South London. Mulligan plays DI Kip Glaspie, who picks up the case and finds that the only witness to an apparently professional hit is a young woman strung out on drugs on the street corner, who has given a false name and address. Simm plays local MP David Mars, whose ex wife Karen (Billie Piper) is the customer of the fateful pizza delivery.

Trauma
John Simm, coincidentally, is also one of the two leads in this threepart psychological thriller, which begins on STV at the same time and day as Collateral. He plays Dan, father of 15-year-old Alex, who is stabbed and dies in the trauma department while being treated by high-flying consultant Jon Allerton, played by Adrian Lester.
Devastated, heartbroken and pushed to the edge, Dan believes Jon is responsible for Alex’s death. As he strives for what he believes is justice, Dan begins to unpick the fabric of Jon’s life as his own unravels in the wake of Alex’s killing.

Breadline Kids
According to Child Poverty Action Group figures, a quarter of Scotland’s children live in poverty and, shockingly, more than two-thirds of that number come from a family where at least one parent works. This sobering documentary looks at the lives of four families struggling to make ends meet.
Eleven-year-old John has moved to Dumfries from London while his mum’s application is processed for leave to remain in the UK. The family is not entitled to benefits so John, his 19-year-old sister Damola and their mum rely on the local foodbank.
In Glenrothes, single mum Helen had to leave work to look after her 14-year-old autistic son Nathan. She’s careful, buying day-old rolls for 5p when she can, but still has to rely on financial help from 17-year-old son William, who earns £3.50 per hour as an engineering apprentice.
In Glasgow, mum Marie’s health suffers as she worries about how she’s going to feed eight-year-old daughter Olivia and her teenage son, while in Aberdeen mum-of-three Kerry often goes without food to make sure her three children don’t have to.
