0 George Soros defended his anti-brexit campaign donation Mail on Sunday, Mr Soros said Britain would “lose much of its global influence” outside the EU.

He added: “The divorce process will preoccupy both Britain and Europe for years ahead, when they should be uniting to resist external enemies like Putin’s Russia and resolve the internal contradictions that made some people regard the EU as their enemy.”

0 Labour’s Chuka Umunna and Tory Anna Soubry found much to agree on when they appeared together on the BBC’S Andrew Marr Show yesterday Pro-european Conservative MPS could join forces with Labour to block the kind of Brexit Theresa May wants, a Tory rebel has warned the PM.

Anna Soubry claimed there would be a majority in the House of Commons against leaving the single market and customs union.

Labour’s Chuka Umunna, appearing alongside Conservative MP Ms Soubry on the BBC’S Andrew Marr show yesterday, agreed with her comments.

Asked if she believed there is a majority in the House of Commons to defeat “the kind of Brexit the Prime Minister wants”, Ms Soubry said: “If she’s not careful, yes.”

Pressed on whether she thought Brexit will definitely happen, Ms Soubry, who appeared on the programme with pro-europe Labour MP Mr Umunna, said: “Will it definitely happen? I genuinely don’t know what is going to happen.”

When Mr Marr suggested that Ms Soubry is closer in her politics to Mr Umunna than she is to Brexit campaignerjacob Rees-mogg, she said: “I’m not denying that.”

MPS have been promised a “meaningful vote” on the terms of Brexit before it happens in March next year.
