Sports centre’s Sunday opening trial approved

A trial scheme to open the only sports centre in Stornoway on Sundays is set to go ahead.

Western Isles Council has approved a participation request to allow Sunday access to the Ionad Spors Leodhais on a six-month trial basis.

George Macleod, a member of Families into Sport for Health, which lodged the request, said: “Now, more than ever, we as a community need to find ways of reducing pressure on our health care systems and ensuring that council-run services are operating at maximum efficiency.”
