Fears over safety of electric trains
Union leaders have warned changes must be made to Scotrail’s new Class 385 electric trains or its drivers will refuse to work on them. Aslef is worried the curved windscreen is causing signal reflections at night. Drivers said that they could “view two or three signals when we should have been viewing only one”.
The Hitachi trains are due to come into service next month. A spokesman for Transport Scotland said that, following the feedback, it was “imperative” Scotrail and Hitachi work towards a solution.
