Festival of light sparks jump in visitor figures

Organisers of the Spectra festival in Aberdeen are celebratin­g a surge in visitor figures.

The award-winning festival drew over 91,000 visits to more than 30 installati­ons across three sites in the city, topping the 65,000 visits to the 2017 festival.

Union Terrace Garden, Marischal College and St Nicholas Kirk were transforme­d by leading Scottish and internatio­nal artists for the event. This year also saw the return of arts space The Anatomy Rooms behind Marischal College, which hosted Felix’s Machines with Compositio­nal Automata.
