Council gives green light to £200m budget
More than £200 million will be spent on public services across Midlothian after a budget for 201819 was approved.
In approving its budget, Midlothian Council also rejected a number of the savings proposals put forward by officers as part of a package of measures aimed at meeting a growing financial shortfall.
At a meeting of the full council yesterday, councillors also agreed to increase council tax by 3 per cent from 1 April, 2018.
The move means that the Band D equivalent tax will rise from £1,246 to £1,283 a year.
