Mass panic

-

I found your article, “Eating food slowly could be linked to weight loss” (Scotsman, 13 February) interesting but disturbing, as you define a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 as obese.

I have a BMI of 28, so overnight I appear to have jumped from being moderately overweight to obese, with concomitant health issues.

I was reassured that the NHS still defines a healthy BMI as 18.5-24.9, a BMI of 25-29.9 as overweight and above 30 as obese, while over 40 is severely obese. However, given the science reported in the article, I’ll certainly be eating my fish suppers more slowly.
