Fife firm in Reuters video deal

- By SCOTT REID

A Fife-headquartered technology business has struck a deal to help deliver breaking news to Thomson Reuters staff in India.

Exterity’s deal with the media giant will see its “endto-end” IP video system deployed to provide live and in-house video content to displays and employees’ desktops at Reuters’ offices across India.

Following the successful deployment of the Exterity technology at the news group’s UK headquarters in London, Thomson Reuters (India) selected a similar set-up that uses its existing IP network to stream high-quality live TV from all over the world to a “virtually unlimited number” of local desktop users.

This network is further extended to regional offices via a corporate “wide area network”. The system also provides a curated content feed to open areas such as reception, cafeteria, lobby as well as private offices and meeting rooms, Exterity added.

Eleuterio Fernandes, a vicepresident of sales at Exterity, which has its HQ in Dalgety Bay with a string of offices worldwide, said: “India is one of the most dynamic and vibrant nations within a rapidly-growing southern Asia market that is embracing video, digital mobility and innovative communication technologies.

“We are exceptionally pleased to have been selected by Thomson Reuters for this exciting new project that highlights the importance of delivering high quality and reliable content – but also the need for flexibility to adapt to new types of viewing devices in a high-pressure environment where news has to travel fast and freely.”

Exterity’s technology is deployed in some 40 countries. Thomson Reuters (India) has eight regional offices.
