#BREXIT

Boris Johnson attempted to quell fears Britain would isolate itself from the rest of Europe after Brexit during a speech yesterday morning. He made jokes about “dogging” and said Britain would not lose cheap flights for stag parties abroad. @katie_martin_fx posted: “We will continue to go on cheapo flights to stag parties in ancient cities” says Boris in explanation of how we remain part of Europe despite Brexit.” @owenjbennett added: “Jokes about stag dos, what people get up to in Thailand, the customs of a place called ‘Doggerland’ – classic Boris, which I imagine will illicit a classic reaction.” @Fykomfei countered: “Dream on Boris. Cities are just waiting for a legal excuse to block Brit stag parties, now they will get it.”

#VALENTINESDAY

Tom Daley and Lance Black shared a photo of them holding an ultrasound scan on Valentine’s Day. The Olympic diver married Black, an American screenwriter, nine months ago. @lucypeck_ exclaimed: “Tom Daley announcing a baby with Lance is igniting the 2012 fangirl in me – am so emotional and pleased for them.” @Tonimocurrie posted: “I’m in tears! Literally! I’m so happy! You two are going to make fantastic parents! Happy Valentine’s Day indeed! Hello Baby Blackdaley.” @liamjackson84 said: “OMG they’re having a BABY.”

#METOO

Lena Zawaideh, who plays in a band with threetime Winter Olympic gold medallist Shaun White, filed a civil suit against him alleging sexual harassment. The case was settled out of court last year. Now in the midst of the #Metoo movement, many were wondering why White’s past was being ignored as he was yesterday hailed a hero for his sporting wins. @Alyssa_milano said: “Woke up to this news! Here are some more words. Why isn’t NBC talking about Shaun White’s sexual harassment allegations?” @anildash added: “Hey @ Nbcolympics, how come none of your Shaun White coverage mentions the #Metoo story of how he targeted his bandmate?” @murphyackerman exclaimed: “I don’t care if Shaun White wins all the gold medals in the world. He is not absolved of personal responsibility.”
