Man accused of cutting off woman’s hand

A man appeared in court yesterday accused of cutting off a 62-year-old woman’s hand.

Stephen Brisbane, 32, faces a charge of assaulting Sandra Mcgowan at her home in Dundee’s South Road on Wednesday.

Brisbane is alleged to have severed Ms Mcgowan’s hand with a knife.

He appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday facing a single charge of assaulting her to her severe injury. He made no plea and he was remanded in custody for psychiatric assessment. He is expected to appear in court again next week.
