Vote referendum

-

I’m sure I read in these columns and blogs just a few months ago that it was not worth taking oil from the North Sea as it was nearly finished and too expensive and bad for the Scottish economy and for people living here. What happened?

Andrew B Dickson In 20 years time when we’re all driving electric cars oil will be irrelevant.

Enough is Enough In around 20 years’ time the last of what’s left will be coming ashore and they’ll be no more afterwards. There won’t ever be any more major finds and a lot will have to be left at the bottom of the sea forever due to it being uneconomical to extract, that’s it folks.

Peter Mcgrouther The Atlantic Ocean, west of Shetland, and the Orkney Basin, will eventually make the UK sector of the North Sea look like a puddle.

Samuel Coldstream This comes just a day after reports that US shale oil production has dramatically increased, thus forcing OPEC to call a meeting to discuss how to counter that. Swings and roundabouts it seems.

Squeaky Squirrel with an Australian accent?

Persona Non Grata There was never any overwhelming demand for the first referendum. The result of that referendum illustrates that perfectly. It took place because the weak David Cameron didn’t have the backbone to show Alex Salmond the door.

Worldwide football fan I think the country could live without more divisive campaigning when the wounds of the last one are yet to be healed. They tend not to when people keep picking the scabs. Bring it on if you must but let’s have a short campaign and a legally enforced time before yet
